Departing Shannon Airport by Road
Shannon Airport is situated in County Clare and is in the Midwest region of Ireland. Limerick city is the closest largest city. We recommend downloading the Google Maps App, it’s a great app and easy to use. Ireland AA route planner is a very good website for detailed directions also. Maps can be purchased in the Londis shop on the ground floor of the terminal building.
Driving out of Shannon Airport, follow the road until you come to a roundabout and process out of the grounds. There is only one route into and out of the grounds of the Airport.
Shannon Airport Car Hire
The car hire companies will shuttle you to their collection points just outside the car parks on the grounds of the Airport. Please allow 40 minutes to one hour if you are dropping back a car after your holiday. Driving from Shannon follow the road out of the grounds via the N19 road, be careful entering roundabouts and remember that vehicles on the right-hand side have right of way. Make sure you have enough fuel for your trip. There is a Circle K fuel station close by in Shannon town centre.
Hiring a car can be the best way to see Ireland’s beautiful scenery, historical sites, castles and coastal areas, villages and towns. Ireland is full of nice scenery and wonderful landscape, with beautiful road trips to keep you busy for a day or a few days.
